Left hand side ocular end well marked with impressed makers name, "Negretti Zambra Opticians London". Right hand side ocular end marked " Holborne Viaduct 39 Cornhill & 122 Regent Street". Mounted on the sun shields at the objectives lenses are two German silver plaques, engraved on the first " Presented By The/ Government of Canada/ To Mr William Wilkinson/ Carpenter of the Ship Saranac/ Of Philadelphia United States Of America." The second is engraved "In Acknowledgment of his/ exertions at the rescue of the/ Crew of the Ship Annie M. Cann/ of/ Yarmouth Nova Scotia/ on 3rd March 1872".
