Christmas card hand-signed by both PRINCE CHARLES and PRINCESS DIANA, 16" x 6" (opened), inscribed and signed to "Mervyn" by Charles beneath the printed greeting, with Diana adding her name beside that of her husband. Opposite the greeting is a photograph of the couple in happier days, ca. 1989, with princes William and Harry before them. The front of the card bears the raised gold ciphers of both signers. Fine condition. This card was most likely sent to Mervyn Wycherley, Charles's private chef during his first marriage. In an interview, he revealed that the prince's security detail would inform the kitchen as soon as HRH was on his way home for tea. "His eggs had to be boiled for exactly four minutes," said Wycherley. "It was never anything other than a four-minute egg. His detectives radioed his ETA ahead. I always kept three pans boiling “ just to be safe." SOLD WITH: an original 1987 press photo, 12" x 9 1/2" b/w, showing princesses Diana and Sarah at a polo match; a 1991 original 12" x 8" Daily Mail color photo showing Diana on a chairlift with both sons; and two postcard-sized photos of the late princess. Five pieces.
