A lot of 8 Spanish copper 'pirate' coins. Most struck under kings Philippe III (1598-1621) through Philippe IV (1621-1665 AD). Copper Maravedis 'cobs'. Originally struck depicting a castle and lion, some counter-stamped with symbols, Roman numerals and/or dates when the coins were re-tariffed under later rulers. Each measured between 14 and 25 mm. Found at the site of a late Medieval harbor in Spain where pirates were known to have gathered to plunder Spanish galleons for their riches. Ex Cordoba, Spain private collection.
