Description
REVOLUTIONARY WAR FLINTLOCK MUSKET WITH BAYONET, approx. 65 caliber, figured maple full stock, partial octagonal barrel marked for Richard Wilson, lock plate unmarked, single iron trigger, brass guard with acorn-form fore end, brass butt plate and thumb plate, steel ramrod. Fitted with an iron socket-style bayonet. Possibly made in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Circa 1770. 57" LOA without bayonet, 42 1/2" barrel.
Very good condition, short crack and small fill to forestock.

Catalogue Note: According to the author it is possible that this musket was made at the Augusta County Gun Factory in Staunton, Virginia at the request of the Augusta County Committee of Safety during Virginia's struggle for independence.
