Description
FD-84 The Doors 1967 "Flash" Denver Family Dog Concert Poster Signed by Bob Schnepf. A second-printing San Francisco concert poster for The Doors, Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band and Lothar & the Hand People appearing at the Denver Family Dog in Colorado on Friday and Saturday, September 29-30, 1967. Known as FD-84 (D-4) in the Family Dog numbered series, this poster was hand-signed by the poster's creator, psychedelic-poster artist Bob Schnepf, in silver ink down in the lower-right corner (under his printed poster credit). It's generally agreed upon that Schnepf really hit it out of the park with this poster design, featuring a negative central image of half-a-dozen women in flowing robes cresting a hill, singing and playing musical instruments. It's a highly compelling design, and if you combine that with the presence of the ever-popular Doors, it's a poster in high demand, especially signed. A real bonus is the inclusion of the Doors' recent #1 single "Light My Fire," their signature hit, worked into their name in the upper right. Only rarely did FD or BG psychedelic concert posters present a song title as part of the artwork. Measures 14" x 20" and grades to Very Good Plus condition. Would grade a lot higher but for a small tear on the upper edge near "$2.50," accompanied by a light one-inch surface crease going down through the red arrow. Otherwise only microscopic corner touches exist as the other ‘flaw.' COA from Heritage Auctions. HID03101062020 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
