AVOID this seller, outrageous shipping
Won 4 small glass items, contacted them a couple times.. after a month or so no contact at all I get an outrageous quote and completely discouraged me from this platform altogether. I’ve had other similar situations, but nothing feels more disrespectful than winning a lot and having it withheld until outrageous ransom is paid to receive it. Online auctions are a great concept, but unless they can give you a straight shipping amount before you bid with them. Just my experience, Encourage everyone to remain optimistic and understand things from every Perspective. I’m just another review But don’t get excited if you win something at a good Price.

This is a landmark in Wilson, NC and you need to visit them!
Since 2009 I have enjoyed attending, doing it online, and picking up items with the Langston Auction House. They have always been a pleasure to work with. I enjoy the moving staff and have always lived the office staff. Everyone is down home folks. I particularly miss Bobby and Pat. A model for other auction houses
The Langston auction house is professional, efficient and well organized. Having purchased from other on-line auction houses, I am most impressed how quickly the Langston Comany processed and shipped my purchase. The statue I purchased was high quality and exactly as described. Although the statue I purchased was less than one hundred dollars, I felt like I was treated as if I spent one thousand!

Make Sure You Read All the Terms of The Sale
I'm careful about what I bid on because in addition to the 25 % buyers premium, which you also pay sales tax on (not Langston's fault) the auction house also charges a processing fee, which does not appear on your initial statement. If you're charging a 25 % buyers premium than this additional processing fee shouldn't be charged. Most other online auctions that I do bid on charge at most 15 % and no processing fee. I realize why many firms went strictly to online auctions but I prefer onsite because then I can see who's bidding and truthfully how they're bidding. Items that I have won have been nice thankfully and pictures are very good.

Very happy with purchase and process.
I bought a piece of furniture and glassware. Both were as pictured and as described. Pickup process was easy and employees loading it were courteous and helpful.

Shipping Challenges
Paid for item as soon as I was invoiced, but it took nearly a month to hear back about shipping. When I asked, auction house told me it had been released to the local UPS store, who would contact me to provide a shipping quote. I contacted UPS Store several times, by phone and email, and did not hear back. Returned to auction house, and once again did not hear back. Only after requesting assistance from LiveAuctioneers did I receive an answer, and then I heard from the UPS Store, who told me that only that day had they been instructed to pick up the item from the auction house. When I received the item, condition didn’t match the photos, and I now feel the price I paid was far too high, on top of the hassle of tracking down my shipment. I won’t be buying from this auction house again.

Unfortunately, we have no control over the shipping. As stated in our "Terms of Sale", shippers are independent from us; therefore, we are not responsible for shipping issues. I did forward this message to the UPS Store and was told that shipping issues could be addressed directly to them, so please feel free to contact them with your dissatisfaction about the shipping. I searched through all of our emails and do not have any from you in reference to shipping releases, so you must have called to release your item. When we are told to release purchases for a customer, the items are placed in a specific holding area for the UPS Store to pick them up in the order that the releases were received. As for the condition of the item, there were seven photos of the sconces that you purchased (front, back, sides, top, etc.) on our website. They were described as a "Pair of Gilded Bronze Sconces. 13" H "without any condition stated. I'm not sure how the photos were different from the item, other than possible lighting issues which is not a condition issue. Please remember in the future that emails or phone calls are always welcome for additional condition information on items prior to the auction if you are unable to preview in person.

Asked about condition of items and was misled
On Sept. 4 th. I won lot 0282. A samovar and tilt kettle. It was hard to access the condition of the pieces with the pictures. So, I wrote prior to bidding and asked if there was any bad silver wear or copper coming through. I also asked what the condition of the inside was like, clean or dirty, any copper showing through, rust or pitting. They wrote back all was in good condition. They finally arrived today and boy was I misled. The samovar has large silver spots removed from the front. In fact, I removed their auction label and it took off a big spot of silver plate. The inside was filthy with rust. The tilt kettle had a monogram which did not show in the pictures as you did not take a picture of that side. Shame on them for providing false information to prospective bidders. I wrote to them about this situation so they would be aware I would be leaving a negative feedback and why. Would not buy from them again.

Did not disclose severe damage to the dining table top and did not answer an email regarding pics.
Never again. Paid a premium for a dining table that had the finish destroyed. The finish damage was severe and never disclosed in the lot description. The day the table arrived with the shipper I called them immediately and they refused to help. I had sent an email on a Sunday requesting detailed photos and condition report. They never answered me. The auction was the next Monday. They actually NEVER answered the email and their excuse was that the "terms and conditions" state they don't answer emails on the weekends, but what it omits it that they never answer emails sent on a weekend. I have purchased over 40K in furniture at auctions this year and deal with auction houses all over the US. This is by far the worst. They blamed me for the table finish being damaged and I don't mean a little. Several issues with the entire top, so buyer beware. Never Again.

As I stated to you on the phone, we didn't answer your email on Sunday because we do not work on Sunday and are not in the auction house to be able to give condition reports. This auction was posted online for three weeks prior to Monday, the date of the auction, and we feel that we give plenty of opportunity for our customers to request condition reports or additional photos. If a buyer does not receive a condition report, they must buy using their own discretion and pay accordingly. We do not answer condition report emails AFTER the item is purchased. If you had needed further information after you had made your purchase, you could have contacted us before your shipper picked your item up and we would have been happy to help you, as I told you on the phone. I did apologize to you, but I can't help that you sent the email when we don't have anyone to answer it.
