Highly recommended great people to deal with. All around great experience

When I looked at the photos, I thought the loco might have been repainted. I sent a query and the reply was that it "Looks to be original paint and lettering". When I received the loco, it was instantly obvious that it had been repainted and re-lettered. The frame had traces of the green paint from the body, the handrails were overpainted, and the lettering was obviously dry transfers, not rubber stamped. That can be both seen and felt. There were also a few other indications, but this was enough. Anyone with any background in Lionel trains would have seen this immediately. The person who answered my query was either completely unqualified to provide the answer or was singularly disingenuous in doing so. For the price I paid, I will keep it, and I have in fact completed the restoration and added a TCA identitag noting the status as is required for any TCA member. Under the circumstances, I do not plan to do business with this house again, and I have so informed them.

Love the online auction experience. American Antique Auctions run a smooth operation. It is easy to particpate and very intuitive how to bid. Highly recommend them.

All very good overall-the items were properly described. Fees are a bit on the high side. Shipping was described as slow so I was prepared for it but, even so, it's been the slowest I've encountered with any on-line auctions: 2 months from Auction to Delivery on 1 lot containing 2 items. My order came with two of the trains wrapped up good, but there was no material between them and they were lose in the box. Two of these trains had two couples knocked off.

EASY TO WORK WITH

We have been buying at auction for 40 + years and for the past 22 + years have been buying from scores of online auction houses. As we all know, auction houses sell items "as is, where is" but when a purchase is made from an online catalog, there are sometimes problems. As I always say, we all make errors and it is not the error that defines us but rather what we do to correct our error and solve the problem. We purchased a number of lots from American Antiques Auctions-one of those items turned out to be a reproduction. We contacted American Antiques Auctions and the owner Vincent responded immediately. He apologized and immediately authorized the return of the item, doing everything possible to solve the issue and make us whole. I could not have been more impressed with the professional way in which this was handled and with the honesty and integrity of the house. I will NEVER hesitate to buy from American Antiques Auctions and I enthusiastically recommend them to all!! Thank you Vincent-you are a credit to our profession and a straight up straight shooter!! Item was received quickly especially considering the pandemic situation we are facing. It was packaged securely and arrived in perfect shape. Payment process was very easy. Other companies should follow their example which would reduce discrepancies and related stresses. Will do business with them again if approved to bid.
