Paying for shipping was weirdly complicated
Item was beautiful, as described, arrived promptly once shipping was arranged. Arranging the shipping was more complicated than it needed to be. Instructions were to contact them to arrange shipping which I attempted to do. It took a while to hear back. It was clunky all around.

BEWARE OF OVERPRICED HANDLING & SHIPPING
This is not a buyer-friendly auction house. I bought a small wooden spoon for $20 (hammer price). After IN-HOUSE shipping AND HANDLING, the item cost me $62. I bought the item to resale at under $45. I will lose almost as much as the hammer price. I should have just sent them a check for $20 and never bid in the first place! I spoke with the owner, who had neither consideration for me nor dilemmas for charging four times what a normal shipping box would have cost! "In-house shipping" implies that you will get a better deal on shipping costs than using commercial shippers. Not so with this auction house! Twenty-four percent buyer's premium is not enough for this spurious enterprise. Auction houses like this are not businesses that make their money from buyer's and seller's premiums. They are unfavorable auction houses that make their money from squeezing buyers the most they can. If you are not on the floor to bid, know that this auction house is NOT INTERNET-USER-FRIENDLY. These businesses give Internet Auctions a bad name. LiveAuctioneers should remove them from their list.

Lorenzo, I am very sorry to hear that you are not happy with our prices. For 80 years our Family and Company has been having In-Person Auctions at our Gallery in Bangor, PA. For 20 years, we have done Online Auctions as well. We recently starting doing our own In-House Shipping to save Customers money. Per your complaint, this is my thoughts. 1. We do not take into consideration Buyers Ability to Re-Sell for a profit. Our main focus is our Consignor. With that being said, I am sorry to hear that you will not be making a profit and taking a loss. When we do shipping, the idea is to help our bidders in a speedy and well done process. In this case we packaged and shipped your item immediately. The cost of your shipping was the Box (2.68) Handling fee of $5 (stated in our terms), Packing Time and Materials (14.45) and Shipping (17.05) to Arizona from Pa. Now, we could have thrown this in a box and not really wrapped it or taken much time. But we treat all of our buyers items the same and do the best job we can. When I spoke to you on the phone I explained this. AS for our Buyers Premium of 24 % you must understand that Live Auctioneers gets 5 % of this back. So we do not get it all. Again, I try to treat everyone fairly and do a good job. I am very sorry that you will have to take a loss at the end of the day. However, if you were to have made a profit I am certain that you would not have cut my consignor in on your fortune nor would I be replying to this complaint. IF you do wish to bid with us again, We do offer in-house bidding at a lower percentage buyers premium aS most Auction houses do.

Love This Auction House!
They never disappoint. Great items with an excellent selection, accurate descriptions and detailed pictures, and you always receive exactly what I expect. Their shipping service, Shipping Saint, is outstanding. Everything is packed with incredible care and shopped quickly for a reasonable price. Hartzell’s is a real favorite of ours. We completely trust them.

Excels in every way. My transaction was done quick, perfect and Shipping was great.
Great auction house. I will be joining their auctions whenever possible. They also have their own shipping department. That is huge to me, because once I buy it I can forget it until it arrives on my doorstep. No secondary long distance calls. This auction house is perfect!!

An absolute Pleasure to deal with
I have won several items from them, ranging from small and fragile, pottery that was fragile to large advertising signage. Everything arrived safely and packaged perfectly. I did pay for the shipping but it was well worth it when you can't take a drive to pick items up. Thank you.

What a great auction house!
I collect colonial period glass and bottles, there was a very good selection in this auction. The 8 items that I won were packed in a double box, lots of bubble wrap padding. Everything arrived undamaged but do realize that shippin by UPS and others has gone up a lot! I was a bit dismayed to find that out, but it was not the fault of the auction house. I would recommend contacting them with plenty of time before their next auction to get a ship quote for any lots that you are interested in! Their shipping department was very helpful and very nice to work with.
