My orders are usually quite large, hard to pack and I pick them up myself. I need all the help I can get and considering their spartan hours of operation, they make it palatable. Still think people (like me) from out of town ought to be able to have opportunity to load very early in morning and/or later than normal closing time in late afternoon...

AAG is a good, reliable process. The bidding, however, could be easier, and I would prefer to get information about the items in which I am interested-and NOT about so many things in which I have zero interest.

This year was my first entry into auction buying and I was a bit anxious about it, but the service and people at AAG was so clear and helpful that I was comfortable quickly. A piece listed as 19thC.. and from the photos it seemed so as European utilitarian pottery is my specialty.. was almost hot from the kiln. A faux!

Austin Auction Gallery is quite a place. Love to go through that huge warehouse (s) and fill my basket... They find so much beautiful, rare things and put them in auction for people that it's hard to believe. I truely think I'll have my daughter take all my ill gotten gains that I've been hording for a whole lifetime and let them help her sell them off when I die! She would be hard pressed to do better... But in reality of now, their staff is very helpful when to me (as I pick up my winnings myself) inventory, wrap and load my lots. I have to drive quite a long many miles to pick up my winnings and they certainly have gone to great lengths to make it a pleasant experience, for me. I would only have two suggestions on making the pickup up experience better; One, have a covered area that could be driven in under to enable person picking up his/her winnings to be out of the weather and be able to wrap/load on tables. It's no small task to load many lots on a truck or trailer by oneself and this brings me to # 2. I wish they had special (longer hours of operation) hours for out of town folks to come in to claim their winnings. It's tough to drive many hours and beat the 5:00pm closing time or to load early for return trip next day when they don't open tell 8:30am. That's like noon time for me. I would like to have opportunity to load at or before daybreak so I can get on the road back! Just a thought... Excellent Auction house and no one can take that away from them.. Sincerely, jim
