Chinese Qing Dynasty QianLong Famille Rose Mille Fleur Porcelain Plum Jar. The porcelain potted into a traditional Meiping form, large, thick and tall potted, wide body on shoulder, slender neck easing to form narrow opening, raised on round foot base slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white base color which contrast against mille fleur design color decoration. Mille Fleur meaning the thousand flowers design first appears in the late YongZheng period becoming extremely popular in the Qianlong and was carried on throughout the subsequent Jiaqing and DaoGuang periods, usually on a gilt ground. The dense millefleurs design features naturalistic blossoming peonies, chrysanthemums, hibiscus, morning glories, roses, lotus flowers, daisies, lilies and pinks amidst an abundance of foliage, the mouth rims with gilt bands, the bases and interiors often turquoise-enamelled on older pieces. The colors are harmonious, elegant and exquisite, the composition is sophisticated, simply a feast for the eye. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark. Made in The Years of QianLong Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
