First Nations, Canada, Salish tribe, ca. 1940s to 1950s CE. A hand-woven basketry tray of broad, shallow form bearing a pair of integral handles. The fibers along the rim are painted with alternating red stripes, and within the basin is a massive flower exhibiting red and black pigments. Size: 17" L x 14.5" W x 1.9" H (43.2 cm x 36.8 cm x 4.8 cm)
Provenance: private Alamo, California, USA collection, before 2000, ex-Leon LaFortune estate, Vancouver, BC, Canada

Slight bending to some walls, with abrasions to paint along rim, otherwise intact and very good. Nice preservation to floral motif.
