ANS

An autograph note signed by esteemed American poet Walt Whitman, together with a photo portrait and illustration with facsimile signature. The signed note has toning and soiling throughout with wear to the edges. Large, bold signature. The photograph has a tear to the upper center edge which has been repaired with archival tape. Still attractive for display. Overall very good.

The note card, measuring 5.25" x 3", n.p., n.d., is signed "Walt Whitman" and addressed to Robert Underwood Johnson. Whitman thanks him for providing him with a carriage after having visiting his friend.

The sepia-toned photograph, measuring 4.5" x 5.5", is a reproduction of a Brady original albumen silver print, circa 1867. The final item is a small illustrated portrait of a young Whitman, measuring 2.5" x 3.25", with a facsimile signature.

The note in full:
"For R. U. Johnson Century Office. Best thanks & remembrances to you, dear friend. I arrived home all right Friday before sunset. Thanks for that carriage from the studio to the ferry."
