Frame, breech and muzzle ends of barrel, backstrap and brass trigger guard have 50% coverage of vine type foliate scroll hand engraving with punch dot backgrounds. Sides of hammer are engraved with a dragon head motif. Silver finish. 1 piece checkered Ivory grips. Barrel, frame, grip straps, cylinder and wedge have matching numbers. Manufactured: 1862 during the American Civil War. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: housed in a period rosewood casing with rectangular brass nameplate on lid. Black velour fitted interior. Case contains Colt's patent marked powder flask, 2 cavity mold, Eley cap tin, case key & round balls and bullets. Also includes 1 wrapped box of American Powder Company 44-100 combustible envelope cartridges. CONDITION: barrel, frame, grip straps and loading lever retain 30% silver finish. Cylinder has bright cleaned appearance. Grips have acquired a mild yellow appearance with age and show some age related checking at butt. Action shows some wear with slightly slow timing.
