Jeu de L'Amour et de L'Himenee. [Paris?: late eighteenth or early nineteenth century]. 15 x 18 inches (39 x 46 cm); hand-colored engraving. Framed. Lightly soiled, a few pale spots, some creasing mostly near corners, a small loss along the vertical central fold, not examined out of frame.
A French game of the goose board about the journey from love to marriage. The game comprises eighty numbered compartments, each representing an emotion, with numerous illustrations, the rules in the center, and romantic pastoral scenes in each of the four corners.
