SIX SHOOTER REVOLVER. Cal. 44-40. S# 246594. Bbl. 4 3/4". Single Action Army Frontier Six Shooter revolver mfg. by Colt in 1903. Left side of the bbl. is marked "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER", with Colt's 2-line address marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with Colt's 2-line patent information, followed by the encircled Rampant Colt logo. Frame, loading gate, and hammer exhibit an older reapplied case colored finish, with remaining metal components exhibiting a blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece plain pearl grips. Interior of left grip panel exhibits a handwritten "Factory Grips" in black ink. Standard SAA pattern blade front sight and frame notched rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the frame, trigger guard, and rear grip strap. CONDITION: frame and hammer retain large amounts of their reapplied case colored finish, showing areas of wear that have faded to a gray/brown patina. Loading gate retains faint case colors. Blued parts retain the majority of their original finish, showing some light to mild wear, as well as some scattered superficial handling marks overall. Grip straps show areas of light to mild wear and thinning that is fading to gray. Near mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics with tight lock up. Grips show mild age related discoloration, as well as scattered superficial handling marks, with some checking present on the left panel. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of John "Jack" Dhooghe.
