Description
Crystal Auspicious Beast, H: 4cm, L: 6cm, W: 3cm, 86g. Carved in Suzhou jade carving workshops in the Qing Dynasty, it was a paperweight or a handheld ornament for the study. Made of natural white crystal with partial cotton flecks and red patina, it adopts the round carving technique to depict a mother and child auspicious beast with smooth lines and vivid modeling, retaining the natural luster of crystal and implying "warding off evil spirits and attracting good fortune". This crystal auspicious beast of the Mid-Qing Dynasty (1736–1820) features exquisite craftsmanship and an auspicious theme, boasting both handheld and collectible values, and is a fine work of crystal carving in the Qing Dynasty.
