
Scottish Steel Scroll Butt Flintlock Pocket Pistol
.40 caliber. 5" round three-stage slightly swamped barrel with baluster turned rings at the transitions. NSN. Bright steel finish, all metal construction. Single shot flintlock muzzleloading pistol of traditional Scottish "Scroll Butt" form, with no sights, vent pick in butt, belt hook on reverse and functional steel ramrod. Lock appears to be marked MEYER & ?, possibly Meyer & Quiller of Edinburgh, who worked circa 1770-1800. Lock with waterproof bridled and fenced pan and roller frizzen. Metal with light scroll engraving, mostly obscured by oxidation and pitting. {ANTIQUE}
Condition
Fair to Good. Smooth bore dark and rusted. Metal moderately oxidized with a mottled gray patina, scattered surface discoloration and evenly distributed pitting. Markings and engraving are weak. Mechanically functional lock. Metal with scattered dings and mars from carry and use.
