French Model 1866 Chassepot Rifle

11mm. 32.5" barrel. SN: P63086. Heavily oxidized metal, iron furniture, walnut stock. Single shot bolt action paper cartridge needle rifle missing the ladder rear sight, with Barleycorn front sight, saber bayonet lug on side of barrel, sling swivels and an original cleaning and clearing rod. Standard St. Etienne markings, bolt and barrel numbers match, stock and cleaning rod are mismatched. Stock with storekeeper's marking partly legible and boxwood plug intact. {ANTIQUE}

Fair. Bore fair, moderately oxidized with visible rifling. Metal with a thick, untouched and heavily oxidized attic patina and moderate amounts of surface roughness with some pitting. Mechanically functional action. Needle intact, obdurator missing from bolt. Stock good, with some markings intact, showing numerous bumps, dings and mars.
