
BRITISH PICTORIAL NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER, silk on linen, featuring two butterflies flying above a center urn with flowers below a crown and two birds, flanked by "E E" initials, two flower vases, two dog-like animals, and other motifs, all encompassed by a scrolling vine border. Housed under glass in an altered 19th century gilt-molded frame. Late 18th/first quarter 19th century. 12 1/4" x 6 3/8" sight, 14 1/2" x 8 1/2" OA.

Thread in very good visual condition with some typical fugitive color, a few losses in connection to holes in linen, linen in fair to good condition with several scattered mostly small holes and losses, some light toning, frame with wear, scattered chips and losses to molding, and other imperfections. Not examined out of frame.
