Description
A rare Civil War era Belgian Model 1846 .71 caliber "Carbine A Tige" Percussion Rifle in very good condition. It has a patina/bright finish, iron mountings, walnut stock, a single shot percussion muzzleloading rifle. Back action percussion lock, it retains the original long range ladder rear sight, the iron front sight, the keyed saber bayonet lug on the side of the barrel, both sling swivels and the original heavy cupped head iron ramrod. These rifles were the inspiration for the US "Plymouth" Navy Rifle that was later produced in quantities by Whitney as the US Model 1861 Naval Rifle. A scarce, possible Confederate imported Belgian rifle that was imported by CS purchasing agents during the American Civil War.
