Description
(1885 - 1966) American admiral, Commander in Chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet during World War II and largely responsible for the successful 'island-hopping' campaign against the Japanese. Partly-printed D.S. 1p. 4to., on ‘Flagship of the Commander-in-Chief’ letterhead, [n.d.], a citation for Ferdinando Mirabile, Radio Technician First Class for ‘distinguishing himself…in a United States Submarine during a war patrol of that vessel. His skill in the operation of equipment to which he was assigned contributed materially to the execution of attacks which resulted in sinking enemy ships totaling more than 13,000 tons and damaging others…’. Regrettably, this document has been previously laminated, still good.
