PEDRO DEL VALLE (1893-1978) American Marine who became the first Latino to reach the rank of lieutenant general, served in World Wars I and II, notably at Guadalcanal and the Battle of Okinawa (as Commanding General of the 1st Marines Division). Scarce vintage I.S.P. 8 x 10 in. b/w, an original Marines head and shoulders portrait in uniform. Signed at bottom right adding date 1947, with contrast just fair. Minute crease to lower right corner, else in very good condition.
