Good lot of five items signed by notable Union general, includes: ROMEYN B. AYRES (1825 - 1888) Union brigadier general, engaged in the First Bull Run Campaign, and was heavily involved in the Battle of Blackburn's Ford, fought in the Peninsula Campaign, the Seven Days Battles, and at Antietam. At Fredericksburg he commanded the corps artillery stationed across the Rappahannock River on Falmouth Heights, and at Gettysburg his division suffered heavy losses at the Wheatfield. Bold signature ‘R B Ayres’ in black ink on a 4 x 2.5 in. card, adding his rank ‘Bv Maj Genl’, and with his divisional command added in another hand. Shows faint adhesive residue on the verso, otherwise in very good to fine condition. WITH: GEORGE L. BEAL (1825 - 1896) Union brigadier general, colonel of the 10th Maine and severely wounded at Antietam, later colonel of the 29th Maine Infantry, in the XIX Corps, and took part in the Red River Campaign in Louisiana, and later Sheridan's Shenandoah Valley campaign in 1864. Signature in black ink on a 3 x 1.5 in. card, adding his rank ‘Brig. General U. S. Vols’. Faintly toned, with archival tape residue on the verso, otherwise in fine condition. WITH: RALPH P. BUCKLAND (1812-1892) Union brigadier general who, during the Siege of Vicksburg, commanded a brigade in Sherman's XV Corps. Large signature ‘R P Buckland’ in black ink on a 7 x 2.25 in. slip of paper, adding ‘Fremont Ohio’. Shows archival tape marks to the verso, otherwise in fine condition. WITH: HENRY H. LOCKWOOD (1814 – 1899) Union brigadier general, secured the Delaware Peninsula from Confederate forces without a fight. A.E.S. ‘retd Signed Henry H Lockwood Brig Genl’ on a 3.75 x 1 in. slip of paper cut from a document, mounted on a slightly larger sheet. In very good to fine condition. WITH: RANDOLPH B. MARCY (1812 - 1887) U.S. Army officer known for his frontier guidebook 'Prairie Traveler' about his own pioneering experiences, Chief of Staff for his son in law Gen. George McClellan, later Inspector General of the U.S Army. Signature ‘R. B. Marcy; in black ink on a 4.5 x 1.5 in. slip of paper cur from his ‘Inspector General’s Office’ letterhead. Shows archival tape residue on the verso, otherwise in very good to fine condition. Five pieces.
