(1821 - 1862) American explorer and Union brigadier general, wounded a day after Ball's Bluff who died as a result of complications from those wounds. A carte de visite photographs, 2.25 x 4 in. sepia, a retouched waist-up portrait of Lander in uniform taken from a Brady negative, with E. Anthony, New York backstamp. Shows a pencil identifying inscription to the verso, otherwise in fine condition.
