ARCHIBALD COX (1912 - 2004) American lawyer and law professor who served as U. S. Solicitor General under President John F. Kennedy and as a special prosecutor during the Watergate scandal. Cox's firing by Richard Nixon led to Nixon stepping down from the presidency. Fine content T.L.S. on his Harvard Law School letterhead, 1p. legal folio, Cambridge, MA, to J. A. Tufano, answering his questions. In part: ‘…I agree with you that former President Nixon’s abuse of his office was unforgivable and wholly overshadowed by some of the constructive steps which he initiated…It also seems likely that the fact of President Ford’s pardon played a part in President Ford’s failure to win reelection…’.
