(1884 - 1972) 33rd President of the United States who led the country in the closing days of World War II and through the rebuilding of Europe under the Marshall Plan and the Korean War. T.L.S. on his personal letterhead with holograph subscription, 1p. 4to., Kansas City, May 2, 1955 to his friend Fred D. Whitaker in Red Lion, Pa. He mentions he was glad to visit and wishes he had more time to stay, concluding: '...One of these days, perhaps, things will cool off so that I can make this visit to you that I have been counting on for so many years...' He pens at bottom: 'It was a pleasure to meet the Dad and mother. I bet they are proud of you as I am.' Fine.
