(1913 - 2006) 38th President of the United States who assumed office upon the resignation of Richard Nixon, who Ford later pardoned for any involvement in the Watergate scandal. Good content T.L.S. as President on White Houser letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Washington, Nov. 24, 1976. Only a few weeks after his loss to Jimmy Carter, Ford thanks two supporters: '...Long after the hard work and hurried pace of these past weeks are forgotten, I will remember the generous encouragement and goodwill which were extended to me and my entire family by our fellow Americans. It has been a tremendous honor to serve the people of our great country, and I will never forget this wonderful privilege...' Initially signed with an autopen signature beneath which Ford added a hand-signed signature. Fine.
