Typically fine in weave and with a high pile, this Kurdish rug was made in the surroundings of the town of Sarkisla. Its repeat of large hexagonal compartments in diverse dark colours, each containing an apparently totemistic figure, barely stands out from the mid blue field ground. The white design sections provide an element of order.
