West Africa, likely Nigeria or Cameroon probably Late 19th to Early 20th Century

A finely carved wooden mask of rounded form, featuring deeply recessed almond-shaped eye openings, a broad, prominent nose, and a slightly open mouth. The surface is richly patinated, exhibiting a dark, lustrous finish with visible age-related wear, including surface cracks and abrasions that attest to use and handling over time. Incised geometric motifs decorate the forehead, cheeks, and chin, while curved linear elements along the cheeks suggest stylized scarification or facial adornment.
