Description
Cameroon, Bamum peoples. A carved wood Tu Ngunga helmet mask with a rounded face, projecting circular eyes, broad nose, exposed teeth, and painted ear details. The crown is surmounted by a tall central crest and smaller animal-head elements around the upper band. The mask retains an attached raffia fiber collar with suspended nut-shell ornaments, presented on a later black metal display stand.
