A striking carved wooden Bwoom helmet mask of powerful sculptural form, the rounded head and projecting facial planes enriched throughout with elaborate applied ornament in cowrie shells, polychrome glass beadwork, and textile elements. The darkened surface of the wood provides a dramatic ground for the vivid red, white, and blue bead borders and shell-mounted motifs, including geometric panels at the crown and sides and radiating ornaments across the brow, cheeks, and lower edge. The face is characterized by its projecting mouth and pronounced contours, while woven and textile attachments at the rear preserve the object's ceremonial character.
