Irish Georgian Sterling Silver Cake Basket

hallmarked Dublin, 1806, by Robert Breading (free 1782; d. 1822), of rounded rectangular form with conforming swing handle and foot ring, the rim with wrigglework banding and engraved cartouches of shamrocks, thistles, acorns and roses, with applied reeded edge.
h. 4-1/2" (h. 10-1/2" with handle), l. 13-1/4", w. 9-7/8"; 31.58 t. oz.

Condition

Scattered nicks and scratches as to be expected with age and use. Light wear to the surface. There is a 1/4" dent on the bowl just above the foot. A 1/4" repaired tear on the underside of the rim where the handle is attached. Solder spots around the underside interior perimeter of the foot ring, original to the construction. Handle pins worn so that the handle does not stay upright, but it is securely attached. Hallmarked (on the rim) with: 1) the sterling crowned harp; 2) the Dublin/duty seated Hibernia; 3) the date letter "K" for 1806; and 4) the "RB" maker's mark of Robert Breading. The handle part-marked with the crowned harp.
