Extra charges
The auction house charged an additional 16 % + ($50 on a $300 winning bid) because the item was not picked up within two working days. That was in addition to their regular fees. The auction was held off premises and the items had to be removed sooner than normal. Passing the clearing out costs of the consumer was a mistake-bad management. I will not be back.

Thank you for your input. The terms of sale for this unique event were posted very clearly in both the description of each individual lot and in the Terms & Conditions for the auction. This was done with the hope that bidders would only bid if they had the ability to remove items within the stated time frame or were comfortable with the additional charges. I do apologize that you were not pleased with your Ahlers & Ogletree experience, and I encourage you to give us another look. We offer about 8 in-house auctions each year where the terms for pick up are much less stringent. The item arrived broken into a million pieces, but even with the tray broken i could see the tray was heavily modified on the edges and a really bad job at that, any armature would have seen it looking in person, I am positive Ahlers & Ogletree knew about the modification, probably why they offered only 1 picture. Very shady, I will never buy from them again.

Displeased that A & O thinks their photos were sufficient. The photo of the lid successfully barely showed the repaired chip. My photos to them showed the chip completely, yet they insist that I should have seen it in their pic and that I should’ve requested a condition report. Which I will certainly do if I ever bid on an A & O item again.

This was my first purchase and I had a few newbie questions. What I didn't "get" was that I could use permission for a third party form right on the shipping page info. I had tried to work with a PDF I found somewhere else on your site which slowed down the process.

I used UPS # 1006 for shipping. They took the necessary action that guaranteed my unusual and heavy ceramic piece would arrive safely. They were successful, and my lot arrived in perfect condition. The "Other" UPS store that you recommend, did not return my two calls for an estimate. They will not be considered in the future and others should be aware of their business practice.
