Happy with purchase. Easy to deal with

Payment was easy. The in-house shipper packed the painting exceptionally well, and shopped it out quickly.

First, the bid started at $150 and i watched with no one came up and placed a bid, but they took my maximum bid at $200. I am ok to get the item for what i placed, but in reality that is not how it works right? so they are teaching the bidders how to get smart not to place your maximum bid next time. remember that. Secondly the shipping. I made payment right away, but did not hear that about a week regarding the shipping, so i called them to get the quote, so they sent it over that was $100 dollars high before i got the estimate from them before the auction. So i questioned them why the $100 dollars more, they responded because it is a big painting. So they did not know the size of the painting before they've sent me the estimate of shipping?????????? so lately, i had no time to find a shipper and i paid the shipping cost then heard nothing about the shipping time, so i contacted them again, no response, then again they responded with an updates. so i got the item exactly a month since i paid the item. will never comes back again to this auction house.

First off, thank you for the wonderful Maurice Heaton glass plaque. It's back home in Congers, near his studio. Bill Hood & Sons answered a question I had before the sale, quoted me a price on shipping, and delivered the item based on that price. The item was incredibly well packed. They took my CC over the phone, making payment for both the item and the in house shipping quick and convenient. If you are thinking of bidding on something from Bill Hood & Sons, I'd tell you to go ahead and buy it. They make the process easy and quick. As an aside, everyone I spoke to was polite, professional, and friendly. A + experience all around.

I have participated in several auctions and have been very pleased with the quality of the items I received. Bill Hood & Sons carries on their family legacy with quality consignments and top customer service. Always appreciate the quick response to my questions. Too many firms on Live Auctioneer make it difficult after the sale with all kinds of rules for pick-up and shipping. If you are new to a firm, starting to determine who you should hire to ship, and not getting a quick response to an inquiry from recommended shippers is frustrating as well as wasted time. I hope the competition takes notice how the Hood family runs a successful auction. Consignors and buyers definitely do.

Textile had some undisclosed holes. The auction house refunded part of the purchase price. Their in-house shipping was not available, so I used one of their recommended shippers (The one that mostly uses USPS.). That was a mistake. I was quoted an outrageous shipping amount, which was reduced some when questioned. However, the piece was sent in a free flat rate USPS box for $15. I was refunded more of the shipping cost, but the whole situation was unpleasant. This shipper also required payment upfront, which has not been my experience with other shippers. They tell you the price once the item is packed and all the charges are itemized in an invoice. Needless to say, Bill Hood and Sons is fine, but I would only advise you to bid on something, if the in-house shipping is available, or you get an accurate quote from an outside, highly rated shipper.

I have bid on and won several auctions with Bill Hood & Sons over the last year. I'm always pleased with my wins-they are exactly as described. I really appreciate the in-house shipping... No calling around for quotes from outside shippers. The shipping cost is reasonable and they shipped my win quickly. I received it one week after I won the auction! Even if it took longer, well worth it. Highly recommend this auction house!

A small item measuring only 4 1/2 "h x 7" charged me $155 for shipping to Boston. It's unbelievable. And if you reject their shipping quote, they are unwilling to pack your items for you. This is very poor shipping service and experience. It's a robbery, and I also have to pay this expensive shipping quotes, because they won't package your items without their expensive shipping quote.

Really enjoyed working with this outfit and will definitely go back for more!

Everything is negotiable when shipping. Sometimes the folks that get back to you in a flash will charge much more. "USPS Pak It Tight" did a great job, at a lower price, and I have enough bubble wrap to take me through next Christmas!
