I have done business for approximately 18 years with Strawser Auctions and I have never had a single problem. Michael Strawser is a man of his word, very high ethics and bends over backwards for his customers. Beyond that he continues to grow his business, improve, and adapt with the times. He is a great listener, surrounds himself with staff and people who seem to share his high standards, manners and ethics. Laurie and Jennifer have proven resourceful, helpful, interested in the customers and can be counted on. I have never experienced any auctioneer tricks such as being run up, bidding against ghost bidders, losing to a favorite customer, being cut off by a quick hammer, etc etc. The auctions in my part of the country do these unethical maneuvers and I no longer attend them nor would I choose them to handle my antiques. Mike, has given up his own commission on occasions, and one can trust him to ring one up only one notch when over bidding on an absentee bid. That says it all-that is everything. I can't tell you how much respect I have for this man personally, for his operation and so far those he chooses to do business with. I think anyone can learn from this quiet man, and could do well to follow his model. I trust you because he has selected you to do business with. It is certainly a feather in our cap. Please know that I am not related to Michael, am very far away from being one of his top customers, can be quite critical and it is not easy to gain my admiration. With that in mind I hope you will realize how really unique Mike is and how much a compliment it is to be selected by him. Wishing you both a long, successful partnership. Thanks for allowing us a chance to communicate with you. All the best, Carol

It would be helpful if they would send email updates, as some other auctions do, on individual bids. Example: "you are the current high bidder. Your bid is " or "you are no longer the high bidder, bid again." I say this, because I have consistently been bidding almost double what the high estimate is, per item I'm interested in, yet I rarely win anything. I haven't time to watch the whole auction, but that kind of info would be valuable in my bidding. I cannot believe all the bids I have lost, which is about 90 %, are due to in house floor bidders on the day of the auction. Perhaps Strawser should be more realistic in apprasing the items, given that this is the third time this has happened. I spend a lot of time going through the lovely catalogue, selecting items on which to. bid. They have put realistic prices on the oyster plates, and need to update pricing on some other pieces as well. Pull up a copy of my personal bids for the most recent auction. TRMattingly

We have done business with Strawser Auction Company for many years. Mr. Strawser goes out of his way to give you an accurate description and condition of his items. After the auction, Mr. Strawser and company take care with your merchandise whether you are having it shipped or arranging for pick up.

The auction house needs a new shipper. I feel as though I was held captive by the shipping company. There was NO, let me repeat, NO transparency on the rates beforehand. The shipping cost was a full 30 % of the cost of goods and absolutely outrageous. I realize these small shipping outfits are high priced and expected that, but 30 % of the cost to ship some glazed clay, give me a break. Therefor I will never again be part of this process by either Strawser or LA.

Items that I received had condition issues that weren't listed in the item description. One item was received broken. Shipping is horrendous. I can understand the 21 % auction house fee, but to have to pay additional 30 % + markup for shipping alone is crazy. I really have to decide if it's really worth buying anything from this kind of auction again.

Shipping is very expensive.. plus the package sat in limbo for a couple days that it could have delivered. That's my opinion. Other than that it was a great experience.

The auction house should provide guidance with shipping cost estimates as their preferred vendor is VERY expensive.
