Don't respond to phone calls/email. Worst customer service I have encountered.
I have 2 experiences with Hindman, both not good. In Sept 2019, I wanted to bid on a substantial item. I called and left messages 3 times for someone to call me as I had questions before bidding. No one returned my calls, therefore, I had no confidence to bid on the item. It passed. I bid on an inexpensive item in Jan 2020, won the bid and since this was my first experience with bidding with this company, I called to talk to a rep. I emailed, Left voicemail, no one returned my call or email. It was UPS who helped me with this item and deserves 5 stars. My invoice from Hindman gave me shippers 'names in Chicago when actually the items were in Palm Beach which I discovered after speaking to UPS Chicago. I am done with Hindman. I contacted Live Auctioneers about Hindman's unresponsiveness in Sept 2019, they weren't any help either. I have had very good experiences with other auction houses. I'll stick with them.

premiums too high
I did not care that on top of the buyers premium they also charged the 3rd party premium which is what they have to pay Liveauctioneers to sell this is the last time I use this auction house they have beautiful things but being ********** with permiums is not worth it.

selling damaged lamp and not responding
WARNING-this seller does not respond to requests about a damaged product purchased from them, I received a Tiffany lamp that does not work and they have failed to respond to three requests for resolution. they do not care about their customers!

Great Correspondence and Service.
Item was accurate to it's description and the auction house was easy to work with. As with any remote auction house, shipping was the biggest challenge, but that's always expected.

Hindman filed a complaint against me for no reason
I bought a couple items from Hindman Auction in Chicago. I was told to wait to pay until it was couriered to their Florida office and pick up point. Next thing I know a complaint was lodged against me for non payment! I had offered to pay at any time, and just followed their instructions. I still have not heard of the items were ever couriered to West Palm Beach, and have heard nothing back from Hindman except that a negative complaint has been filed. This is not fair to my good reputation.

Inaccurate description
The image of the figure appeared to be patinated the definition of which means a “metal having a green or brown film produced by oxidation.” In this case, the colors were stippled and sponged on the surface. While the figure appeared to be of some age, it’s anyone’s guess as to when the surface colors were applied. Quite disappointed.

Omission of Condition Issues
While I understand how auctions work and get the concept of “as is/where is” I think it’s really underhanded to show three photos of an object and not show obvious damage. I know it’s on me to call for a condition report. But if you’re selling ceramics online, it is only ethical to show obvious damage in your photos or at least include a simple phrase such as “old repairs” in the description. I feel badly used by Hindman and will not buy there again. Also at Hindman one pays first at one location then drives to a warehouse to pick up item. So by the time you find out your item is damaged, you’ve already paid. The consumer really has no recourse at that point. I’ve learned my lesson. On line auctions are full of traps. Beware. The exception believe it or not is eBay. Best customer service and best protection against faulty merchandise. These upscale auction houses could learn a thing or two from eBay.

Very Disssatisfied-gave incorrect deminsions on Art Glass Vase
I have been collecting art glass for many years and I own quite a few pieces by glass artist Martie Negri. In the description, Hindman said the vase was 8 1/2 "tall when in fact it is 6 1/2" tall. That is false advertising and unexcusable. Shame on Hindman-I will never do business with them again.

Great experience for the most part
Everything went smoothly except the pick up process. I think the UPS store was too busy to pick up quickly. Eventually it arrived and was packed wonderfully.
