Great experience with Hindman Auction.

Hindman did not include the framed dimensions of the works I bought. I emailed them and asked for the framed dimensions, but they did not respond. Shipping costs ended up being much higher than anticipated as a result. In terms of payment, Hindman added a number of surcharges to the bill that I have not encountered with other auctioneers. Overall, a disappointing experience with an auction house I once thought highly of, and more expensive than expected.

Responsive and easy to work with. The collection was excellent for the auction-they have unique and rare pieces of art. The auction house commission is somewhat high compared to other auction houses.

As a new bidder I found that 1) not knowing that bidding prior to "Live" bidding doesn't really matter, 2) that not all ITEMS will have shipping and that bidder must make said arrangements (if shipping isn't part of the price listed on the invoice). Just some newbie mistakes.

I paid this item already but the auction house still marked Open Dispute. What's going on?

BEWARE! Do not buy anything from Hindman Auctions. They do not list any damage in their listings. I purchased over 30 high end paperweights from them and they were all significantly damaged. They did not state there was any damage and when questioned they said "well you have to email us on each item to find out the condition." I for one will NEVER buy from them again. Please be careful. They do not represent themselves well.

It seems some Hindman auctions provide in-house shipping, and some do not, and the conflicting information on their website and within the "policies" descriptions in the listings makes it confusing to understand (in one place it will say that in-house shipping is provided, but in an other place it says it isn't). I much prefer in-house shipping, and I did get that with my items (shipping fees were included on the invoice, but the email with the invoice again was confusing with conflicting statements). Once I got the notice that shipping was in process (which took some time, but they have a lot to process), I received the items quickly. They were well packed, and the fees for shipping were reasonable. Next, the age of the sticks was listed as 18th century, but I doubt the age. I sent a question asking how they determined the age after the auction, but they did not reply. I have bought from auction houses in the past that have been very helpful after the sale-which says a lot to me about the auction house. I like the sticks anyway, but had they provided photos of the bottoms of the sticks, I probably wouldn't have bid on them (or at least wouldn't have gone as high as I did). It is my fault for not asking for photos of the bottoms, but I've seen where many auction houses provide these in the listing. I will not bid on any candlesticks in the future if the listing does not include photos of the bottoms (having such photos makes the attribution seem more honest). In the end, I would still do business with the company, but I will be more careful when it comes to inspecting the items online.

This was my first purchase from Hindman, although I had bid in several of their prior auctions and/or requested Condition Reports. I was happy with every aspect of the auction process and interaction with the seller. I will definitely do business with Hindman in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

No matter which Hindman location is holding an auction, the lots will be high-quality, interesting, and often unique. I am very happy with all of my wins at Hindman auctions so far. The photos and descriptions are accurate, and the process is smooth and efficient.

Very patient with me as I forgot my item there! Very professional. I have worked with them more than once and will do so again in the future.

Would give them a five star review but more than a month after paying them and receiving the items they still show the invoice as unpaid on Live Auctioneers. This could cause problems for me later on.

their customer service/payment dept has a lot to be desired, we dont like getting phone calls re a payment that has been mailed out promptly. When we asked re. shipping/othertquestions the payment dept said they would look into it, and get back to us........... all we recieved was two more e mails re payment demands again their cust. service payment dept needs to be fired and trained as to dealing with auction customers. We will never do businesss with them again
