A Rare Transitional, Louis XIV/Regence French Buffet of European Oak with Two Cabinets, One Central Drawer and Two Drawer Frontages Beneath; Condition: Previous restorations, age separations to wood, minor losses of wood, nicks, rubs, all commensurate with age.This rare and stately transitional hand carved French buffet from the late 1700Ís has a rectangular top surmounting a conforming frieze featuring indented panels with hand-stamped stars lining the interior outline of the panels with a central sunflower motif. The drawers have ornamentation of the Louis XIV and Regence Periods, with hand-stamped stars on the interior panels and corners. The vertical supports are rounded with simple panel decoration ending in scrolled feet. There are two cupboards on either side of the drawers, all having ornamentation of symmetrically balanced elongated 'c' and and serpentine indented moldings with raised open field central panels. The apron is shaped and has indented moldings with c-scrolls ending in stylized fleur-de-lys and a central c-scroll motif with a sunflower. This is a very rare and old transitional French buffet for the discerning collector. H=39 5/8, L=69 1/2, D=26 1/8
