Map drawn at a time when the West was still largely territorial with Oregon Territory, Utah Territory, Territory of New Mexico, a huge Indian Territory, Missouri Territory—which is not connected to the present-day state--and a very large Minnesota. The Gadsden Purchase had not yet settled the border between the US and Mexico, so the boundary shown on the map is unusual. Unusually clean and presentable for a school atlas map.
