Lovely and very scarce copper engraved map of South Carolina from the elusive 1833 New General Atlas by Anthony Finley. Finley maps are highly collectible due to their increasing scarcity and his decision to not clutter up the surrounding state areas, which provides a pleasing, natural frame around the map image. South Carolina is quite often paired with North Carolina on 19th century maps, so this is a nice departure, especially for South Carolina map collectors. Very clean and nicely centered. Great original hand coloring. Small and light plate crack as published. Mostly visible from reverse view (difficult to detect unless held up to light source). Tiny spot in the area of Georgia. 8.75 x 11.5
