SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Colt. S# 338911. Bbl. 4 3/4". First Generation Single Action Army revolver mfg. by Colt in 1920. Left side of the bbl. is marked "45 COLT", with Colt's 2-line address marked across the top. Left side of the frame is hand engraved with Colt's 2-line patent information. Sides of frame exhibit professionally executed bordered vine type scrollwork on a hatched background, with a starburst motif also engraved on the right. Matching pattern scrollwork extends to the sides of the trigger guard and rear grip strap. Frame, loading gate, and hammer exhibit a reapplied case colored finish. Frame screws, rear grip strap screws, and trigger exhibit a reheated nitre blue finish. Apparent contemporary replacement bbl., ejector rod assembly, cyl., trigger guard, and rear grip strap exhibit a blue finish. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece custom pearl grip. Standard SAA pattern blade front sight and frame notched rear sight. Trigger guard and rear grip strap have been renumbered to match, with the S# applied on the left, beneath the grip panel. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: plain cardboard box with mostly illegible Colt end label. CONDITION: frame, loading gate, and hammer retain the vast majority of their vibrant reapplied case colored finish, showing a few small spots of discoloration on the recoil shield. Blue parts retain the majority of their finish, showing some scattered spots of light surface oxidation, as well as some small scattered spots of flaking (predominately on the cyl. and let forward edge of the bbl.). Near mirror bore, exhibiting some very light pitting, with a small spot of mild pitting present towards the muzzle. Proper manual mechanics, with tight lock up. Grip shows some light superficial handling marks, with cracking present on the butt on either side at the grip strap. Box remains sound, with end label showing numerous losses. (25-1250/MLW).
