
US Model 1836 A.H. Waters Pistol Converted to Percussion
.58 Cal. 8.5" barrel length. SN: NSN. Finished in the white mounting walnut stock, iron fittings, brass bolster, and swivel ramrod. Single shot percussion conversion pistol of an 1836 Waters pistol. Lockplate is marked {Eaglehead}/A.H. WATERS & Co./MILBURY MASS/1844 followed by T initial. Item shows H initials to backstrap, serpentine, and barrel band. Counterpane shows circled JH mark of Joseph Hannis, WAT mark for William Anderson Thornton, and the initials R.H.W., which appear to have been scratched in by a previous owner. Screw for ramrod swivel has been replaced with a roughly cut modern example. {ANTIQUE}

Condition
Good. Bore is Very Dark with oxidation throughout. Metal finish has been buffed bright overall, with some gray mottling on the barrel. The barrel exhibits light pitting near the muzzle, and cleaned heavy pitting near breech surrounding the cone. Metal parts fit with gap below the trigger plate. Stock has been sanded and shows dents, handling wear, and some chips around the lockplate.
