(1913 - 1944) German Panzer officer, recipient of the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords. Fessmann was killed in action on 11 October 1944 when a Soviet shell exploded before him, throwing him back into his vehicle and killing him instantly. Rare war-date S.P., 3.5 x 5.5 in. b/w, a chest, up portrait in uniform by Hoffmann, signed at bottom. Fine.
