(1818-1890) Confederate brigadier general who fought bravely at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg, promoted immediately before the latter by Robert E. Lee. Scarce, likely war-date signature ‘E. A. O’Neal’ in black ink on a 3 x 1.75 in. card, adding his rank ‘Col. Comdg Brigade’. Toned, with mounting remnants on the verso, otherwise in very good condition.
