(1827-1901) Confederate brigadier general who served under generals Beauregard, Bragg, and Magruder. Intriguing A.N.S. ‘Jas E Slaughter’, 1p. oblong 12mo., [n.p., n.d.], to a Capt. A. McVay, in part: ‘… You have nothing to do with the discharge which Gen. [Lloyd] Tilghman has neglected to give. I have the [uncl.] giving the men to be discharged, therefore there is no room to [uncl.] the identity of the parties.’ Slaughter signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank. Mounted, in very good condition overall.
