Sampler Dated 1847 by Matilda Fish. Fantastic handmade sampler dated from 1847 made by Matilda Fish that has the alphabet and numbers. Below that the sampler says that Matilda C Fish was born Dec 15th 1835 and that at the age of 12 she made this sampler in 1847. Below that is a scene with trees and floral motifs. On the back of the sampler there is a note that says Matilda Fish married James Dailey, grandfather of R. Leon Smith. The sampler is in excellent condition. Wear is consistent with age and use. The measurements for the frame are 19" tall x 15.5" wide and the sampler itself is 16" tall x 12" wide.
