BLACK, DAVID, LOVELESS, CLIVE & WILLBORG, PETER, Flatweaves From Fjord To Forest. London 1984, no. 4
Produced in the Torna or Bara District around 1800, this carriage cushion belongs to the same group as the example published in the 1984 exhibition catalogue, "Flatweaves from Fjord to Forest". It is an embroidery in wool on a linen foundation using the cross stitch technique known as twizt. An Endless Knot lies at the centre of the green field, with blossoms and stars symmetrically distributed around it. The same star motifs, drawn in two different sizes, adorn the equally green border.
