Due to the fact that wide looms were not available, these Kurdish Malatya flatweaves used to be made in two panels that were later stitched together. The panels are almost always decorated in horizontal stripes that vary in width, colour combination and ornamentation. Here, the brocaded design consists of diamonds in different shapes, sizes and interior designs. The three white-ground horizontal stripes subdivide the composition.
