Description
second half 19th century, 233 x 128 cm, Central Caucasus, Elisabethpol
Combinations of designs from various regions are a typical feature of Genje rugs. In this example, a Talish served as the model for the empty red met hane field with reciprocal trefoils along its sides. The main border design of stylised pairs of birds occurs in many Caucasian rugs.
