Length:59.5cm(23.43in) Width:12.5cm(4.92in)Color on silk. This is a fine tiger painting by Zhang Shanzi. A fierce tiger stands on snow slope, raising its head and roaring. Its stripes are delicately rendered with lifelike fluffy fur, conveying powerful vitality. Snow-laden bamboos grow in the background with bending cold twigs, forming a bleak wintry scene. A poetic inscription in running script appears on the upper right, signed “Painted by Zhang Shanzi, Tiger Maniac, at Ancient Style Hall”, sealed with a red name seal. The work integrates western realistic techniques with traditional Chinese brushwork, setting off the majesty of the tiger against icy wilderness. The silk bears natural age foxing, mounted as original silk-wrapped hanging scroll in good condition.
